Site Analysis by Courthouse Dogs

A site analysis by Courthouse Dogs will provide a detailed written guide for development of a successful courthouse dogs program for your jurisdiction or agency.

In the initial phase of a site analysis, we will ask key personnel in your jurisdiction to complete questionnaires gathering basic information about your personnel structure, work flow in the office, and the need for a courthouse dog. We may also gather information through phone interviews and email exchanges.

During a site visit lasting from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of your office, Courthouse Dogs consultants will provide the following services:

• A physical tour of your facility (or facilities) to understand the environment in which a dog will be working
• Information-gathering meetings with professional staff in the jurisdiction in order to understand your unique requirements for a successful dog program
• Presentations to key groups on the value of courthouse dogs
• Interviews with individuals interested in becoming dog handlers

Following the site visit, Courthouse Dogs will provide you with a Guide to Development of a Courthouse Dog Program which will cover the following areas, among others:

• Recommendations for primary and secondary handlers for your courthouse dog
• Suggested job description and work schedule for dog
• Model policies and protocols customized for your jurisdiction
• Flow chart of next steps that jurisdiction needs to take to implement dog program
• Recommendations for the best possible source for your dog
• Customized advice about how to integrate the new dog into your office

In order to assure the best quality results, site analyses require scheduling about two months in advance of site visit in order to allow ample time for research on your needs before we visit.
